How not to discover where the airconditioning vents to.

Heading into the garage to grab ONE box, saw a trickle of water where it shouldn't be. It turned out that the aircon unit drips into the garage, and then doesn't go anywhere - except for now across our garage floor and soaking the bottom of a dozen boxes.

One mad evacuation of the garage later, we mopped up the puddle, placed a bucket under the pipe (and will arrange it to properly vent later) and dragged the dry boxes back in. Then we investigated the 14 boxes remaining on the driveway. Two collapsed and had to be emptied where they lay (very minor losses) and twelve are now sitting in the lounge room.

Some are labelled "books".

Some are "Software" or "craft"

I dread to think what we're going to find. For the water to have got that far, it has soaked some of these boxes up to a couple of inches high, and had to have saturated them to have been able to get across.

There goes the plans for tonight.

No bad without some good...

My back is aching and I'm exhausted, but the damage bill is a lot less than expected. A couple of easily-missed books, a record cover, and a few sheets that can be washed.

On the good side, as a result of the mad "check boxes and unpack where possible", I have now regained:

The Commonsense Cookbook 1928
The full Settlers/Cities and Knights of Catan set that was IABS
and about 30 bottles of wine that I had carefully put into wine boxes marked "fragile", and the movers had loaded into one large box.

So now - simple dinner, wine.
