More seriously, I write Harry Potter fanfic, and one of the few sites that hosts good, well-written and carefully checked FanFiction is The Petulant Poetess. Anything that gets posted there gets run through a real-person editor before it hits the site, thus guaranteeing that you will not have to wade through great chunks of really badly written mis-spelled garbage to find a good story.

The Poetess is run by volunteers, but they still have to pay for their servers, and the bill is due. If, like me, you know it and love it, please consider reading this page about their current situation and throwing a little love their way. They're using Paypal, and you can give as little as $5. This money is only going to the server, not to the people.
