Do you know what you get when you pour time, energy and matter into a black hole?

You get a bigger black hole.

Edit: none of the above refers to members of my family

You missed the 'and less time, energy and matter for yourself'

Some research i read recently said everything that goes into a black hole eventually comes out crushed and broken.

... I suppose either analogy works. So long as we can put [livejournal.com profile] reynardo back together again.

S'okay. Luckily, realised what was happening in time. Just a little bruised from the event horizon.

Prevailing scientific opinion used to be that black holes grew to be so massive that they pinched off and became their own separate universe, resulting in a "big bang" similar to the theory of the creation of our universe.

Stephen Hawking is currently of the opinion that everything that goes into a black hole is eventually returned to the universe in the form of radiation (i.e.; so vastly changed from the original form as to be unrecognizable), and that black holes eventually "evaporate" and die.

Which is probably as close to the truth of this situation as your analogy, I suppose.
