Damn this body and the 24 hour day
Oct. 30th, 2004 08:27 amAfter a week of Graveyard shifts, exciting meetings and headless-chooking, we flew down to Melbourne last night. The plan was to go out dancing to get the kinks out of my body and the rhythm back into my soul. My idiot body had been shifting around the sleep-times, though, and I had only managed about 3 hours sleep on Friday day. Ususally, though, this would not be a problem.
Alas, as the plane descended towards Melbourne airport, my ear did what it hasn't done for years - it failed to clear properly with the change in pressure. By the time we'd landed the sudden pain had subsided to a dull throb, but enough to irritate me considerably. On top of my already-sleep-deprived state, it wasn't good. The drive toCabal Headquarters the house of
shadow_5tails and
asagwe was thankfully uneventful, but I staggered in, requested a hot water bottle to rest my head on, and went to lie down for a couple of hours.
And when Dancing Time came (midnight), I realised the body wasn't going anywhere. The ear was a lot better (and seems fine this morning), but the body was completely in strike mode and wasn't even interested in work-to-rule or a go-slow.
Feeling a lot better now, though. I shall see if
brandtotter is interested in breakfast, then head into town and pay off a certain purchase at Anton's. But bother it - now my sleep cycle has completely rotated around to early-morning. I hope I won't be too tired tonight.
