A few years ago,
lederhosen and I went to the Big Island, and he was kind enough to put up with my ferretting around the various craters.
In the last few days, the level of the lava in the vent in the main crater of Kīlauea has dropped drastically, and the crater at the Puʻu ʻŌʻō Cone has also collapsed drastically and the lava level dropped.
And now a new vent has opened near Napau Crater, Kīlauea Volcano.
There's some amazing video on the Big Island Video News site, including the ground cracking and the lava just starting to spurt up, and the ground closer to the camera cracking, and then closer ...
I am so glad I have a nice large bandwidth :-)
