Back from Sydney, and not travelling again for a few weeks (Phew!) unless the wretched dentist *insists* that my replacement mouth brace needs fitting.

Applications in for houses in Chadstone and Footscray. Will keep hunting until I shoot one down. Chadstone is on Waverley Rd, nice big house with nice really big garage, back yard, heating and stuff. Footscray is medium sized house, no car parking but really nice yard, some storage. Either will do rather well, for various reasons. While it's been fun bunking with [livejournal.com profile] lirion, I am looking forward to my own space. Also, we've had a horrid run on routers, and I need my own connection.

Also discovered that just because other cars are parked on certain roads doesn't mean the road isn't a clearway. Discovered this the hard way, dammit (sorry, dear).

When flying back, the plane went over the current bushfires in Murrindindi, and the sight of the smoke and the fires burning ahead, and the burned out areas, was just so sad. Most fires are out but Victoria is still rather short on water. Everywhere else, all the fields are brown after the 46C day that just baked the place. There's a couple of light showers predicted in the next week or so, but no decent rain listed. So would you guys getting the snow melt send a few megalitres this way plz?

Also had one knock-back for a job (I'll ring them tomorrow and find out why) but have another application in that sounds very much like my cup of tea.

Hopefully will be in Canberra on about the 14th March ready for [livejournal.com profile] quatranoctal's Dubious Movie Night. We're pretty sure there's a couple that [livejournal.com profile] notasquirrel has given us that people in Canberra still haven't seen. They're not whimpering enough yet. Then house packing and moving, hopefully to an address and not just a storage facility.

Also, amusing huge run of comments on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes about asking I figure that "Is there any chance you could be pregnant?" is the medical equivalent of the tech support "Have you verified that it's plugged in?". While I fully admit that asking continuously when the woman has explained that they're still a virgin and have only kissed once, as a techie I can fully understand needing to ask it. I've made the mistake of not checking a plug myself enough times to know that asking it once is a necessary evil.

Lastly, discovered a small blue-tongue in a bucket at Matraville, looking rather dehydrated and annoyed. It's been relocated to a safer contained, given water and food (and advice asked of the very sweet and helpful [livejournal.com profile] dewhitton and [livejournal.com profile] shadow_5tails), and he'll be put back in the garden after his flattened body plumps up a bit.

Tired. I sleep now.

Eh, it happens. I guess we'll just have to go without that Hello Kitty costume I was going to get you...

Trust me, if I (or my Evil Author™) could control the weather, those fires would have been doused long ago and you wouldn't have a drought problem. Then again, if I could control the weather, I could rule the world! (madscientistcacklechittering)

Y'know, for an end to the drought and the fires, I could almost put up with chittering squrrel overlords...

My favorites are the questions on drinking, smoking and illegal drug use. Instead of putting "No", like I answered, they put down, "Denies". Translation: "Says he doesn't drink/smoke/use illegal drugs, but we don't believe him."

Chadstone place sounds nice, and Waverley Road is a quiet main road (if that makes sense). At least you'll have the shopping centre around the corner, and easy access to the Mulgrave Freeway (what the folks now call the Monash Fwy), and depending on which half you're on, you should be close to the Glen Waverley line rail.

I lived nearby in Carnegie for 5 years before jumping the international pond: loved the area.

Good to see that despite the weather your fingers are still finging.

Sometimes asking it twice or twelve times is a necessary evil too, irritating as it is to the honest and reasonably well-informed masses.

The comment about patients being lying liarpants who lie and then lie about lying made me snort beverage, though. It's true.

My mother (an ER doc of 30 years) once had a patient vehemently, angrily, and repeatedly deny that she could possibly be pregnant while the baby was crowning. People are astonishing sometimes.
