I haven't bought Nestles' products for years if I can help it, and even gave up Milo.

The Pancake Parlours are apparently started and owned by Scientologists, and thus do not get my custom any more.

But now Coke???? Supporting a Creationist museum?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goddamit, someone start importing Moxie to Australia.

Hmm... It does look like their 'corporate sponsorship' is what *any* bar or cafe that sells enough bottles of coke can get. Shade umbrellas, some banners, branded coolers and a fountain. I suspect this is "Noah's Cafe at this location bought $XXXX amount of Coke bottles and mix this quater. Send them a promotion pack." not corporate sponsorship.

That's my take on it as well.

It's kinda like the various colleges I've studied/worked at being either a Coke campus or a Pepsi campus (and at least two had changed affiliations in my time there). It's a matter of who bartered a better deal with the college and their food service company. I don't think Pepsi particularly endorses my current campus.

I suspect the above comments are right, but also, that Coke has tried to sponsor everything but themselves at one point or another.

And that's because people can be confused by the phrase "Coke, brought to you by Coke." :)

Of course, around here Moxie (the beverage, not the squirrel) is distributed by the local Coca Cola distributor....

(I think. It -was- true, or something like it was, at least recently. I don't pay anywhere near as much attention to this as Someone Else does.)

I love that they're the official drink of the Olympics, but IOC rules forbid competitors from drinking it...

Yes, Moxie is now owned by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Northern New England, which is a franchise bottler of Coca-Cola, and not owned by the Coca-Cola Corp of Atlanta, Georgia, USA. It's owned by Kirin Brewery of Japan.
