The road is dark and lonely
The mud-filled ditch is deep
But if you're very quiet
The monster stays asleep.

The armour all is oiled,
As down the path you creep
And pray and beg and hope so hard
The monster stays asleep

And if you find a spider
And scream a little "Meep"
Then freeze and stop your breathing -
The monster stays asleep.

The rain is gently falling
You feel it gently seep
Inside your freezing armour -
The monster stays asleep

But if you give it nommies -
Your lives you just might keep,
For after hefty meals
The monster stays asleep

So do not lose your courage
And make a screaming heap.
If you think creatively
The monster stays asleep

Dress the gnome like Teddy
Make a pile of sheep
And once he's played with his new toys...
He might just fall asleep.
