Sock Sorting.

I start with 170 loose socks. (Mine, lederhosen's, da_norvegicus's and a couple of unknown.)

I'll be nice and say there's about 10 that haven't had pairs in ages.

So...

How many matched pairs of socks will I end up with at the end of the sock-sort (which will probably take an hour?)

170 - 10 = 160
160 / 2 = 80

Therefore there would be 80 pairs of socks.
