OK, Three loads of washing done and one more in, and the back porch cleaned of the piles of crap (literally) from Senior Dog, including his set of lying-on mats (Load 3 of the wash. Done by hand in a tub)

Loungeroom Carpet hung on a line at the front to let these high winds blow out some of the dust and hair before I vacuum and carpet-clean it.

Now - THE KITCHEN! Time to put on a cool video about Meteors to synch with the destruction mode

So - how's *your* Day of Rest?

SICK! I apparently harbour the love child of the Swine Flu and The Asian Flu in my lungs! First time ever I have rib pains when coughing :(

Wow, you did a lot of washing!

Awesome! So did you focus on one particular group of giants, or was it an overview of the genus as a whole?

I'm bored with sitting around propping up my foot with an ice pack on my toe, I have a metic fuck-ton of paperwork (approximately 1.27 American fuck-tons) needing to be done with deadlines looming at me, it's warm humid and I want an ice cream. Pity me.

Me? I went to an exhibition of shoes at the local museum. Including Stanley Baldwin's walking boots, no less.

I spent Saturday first taking Annie Cat to be tortured by the vet. I spent the rest of the day rebuilding the structural integrity of our front porch. A few weeks back, I discovered that the center support beam holding up the roof was rotting out. I've been too busy until this weekend to do much about it other than to poke at it and see how bad it was. Bad enough to not put it off until next spring (northern hemisphere spring). This involved making a drive up to my brother's in Winslow as he's got a table saw. Why? 'Cause this 1920-era house (rather new for this area) has old-work 2x4's, meaning, they measure 2 inches by 4 inches (5cm x 10cm) AFTER being planed. A new work 2x4, which is all you can find now, is 2 by 4 prior to being planed smooth. So, I needed to take some larger dimension wood and cut it down to the size I needed. Yanked out the windows on each side of the post. Propped-up the roof as a precaution. Cut-out a 6 inch section (15cm) of the support post. Found the sill under it was also rotted. Replaced sill and replaced section of post with pressure-treated lumber (won't rot in my lifetime, hopefully). Put windows frames back together. Silicone and put windows back in place just before it started raining.

Despite the sunny weather yesterday, the silicone hadn't completely set yet. It's pouring buckets this morning, so, who knows when I'll be able to paint it over. At this rate, I may need to resilicone it.

As for Sunday, rested, took [livejournal.com profile] panacea1 out for an ice cream at a local place that makes its own. She had Guinness (seriously) and I had pumpkin. Went for what might be my last dip in the pool for this season--75F (24C). Considering how much rain has fallen overnight and that the pool is overflowing, I'm going to guess it's dropped at least 5 deg.--a bit too chilly for this squirrel.

As today is a Fed holiday celebrating a movement that has been all but destroyed in this country and it's too wet to do anything, I'll probably just sit back, pet the cat and twitch 'cause I can't get anything done.

According to Freshbooks, my day of rest resulted in 1.33 hours of paid typing. Also repeated machine washing of pillows after figuring out how to wash the pillows, so that I can say the three pillows I'm keeping have been washed and dried 1.5 total times, or once properly, each.
