Way back last year, I offered a poem in the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_newbies fest. It's a bit late, but for those that want to read it, here's the Story of the Stray Sock.
And yes, it's a bit of fluff. The poem. Not the sock. Although the sock is fluffy too...

The morning sun shone out anew,
Hermione groaned and held her head,
For some strange reason, there's a blank
Between last Friday and Monday's bed.
She staggered up, pried ope' her eyes,
And focussed just as best she could,
While feet swung down and felt for ground,
Or at least a floor of wood.

She staggered, gamely, through the fog
That seemed to cover just her eyes,
And headed for the kitchen warm
Where she was met with great surprise.
"Good morning, fair Hermione!" Ron
Was snickering as loud he called.
Hermione winced and blocked her ears
Her normal morning joy quite palled.

Then Harry joined into the tease
From by the Grimmauld kitchen sink.
"I do believe our maiden bright
Has had a little much to drink."
"Oh, do shut up!" Hermione moaned.
She grabbed a mug, and coffee poured.
"Since when did Mountain Dew contain
Such drugs as I could ne'er afford?"

"I'm sorry, 'Mione. Should have warned -
Americans do different Dew.
Unlike ours, it holds caffeine -
But that's not all that's troubling you"
Ron then stood, began to laugh,
"Hermione, this weekend you've lost
Was obviously more than drink!
Do you not know the total cost?"

"If this is how the aftermath
Of one full night of Mountain Dew..."
"You don't remember after that?
The cocktails, wine and whiskey too?"
Hermione cried "I never would!"
"You did." laughed Ron. "But blame my kin,
'Twas George and Charlie spiked your Dew
And put you in the state you're in."

"I'll kill them both - but Coffee first."
"I'll tell them if you'll tell me who
You spent the night with," Harry asked.
"The person who swapped socks with you."
Hermione gasped, and checked her feet
And sure enough, two different hues:
One her normal snowy white;
The other, shades of sky-dark blue.

She blushed. She mumbled, turned and fled.
Her dreams and memories so sweet,
Of loving arms, caresses shared
And pleasure given, joy complete.
"I didn't! Wouldn't! Never me!
And woke up solo in this bed.
So who - or what - gave me such joy
That echoes still around my head?"

Harry knocked, came in. "Poor thing.
You drank with us on Friday night,
Left early, headed home. Your bed
Was empty later, gave us fright.
But sending my Patronus out,
You sent one back. "I'm fine. Don't fret."
You staggered in on Sunday morn,
Just smiled and went to sleep, I bet."

"Oh my." Hermione blushed. "And I
Have no idea where all took place.
My only clue, a single sock."
And further blushes filled her face.
"With any luck, the lucky man
Is right now writing notes to you."
Harry hugged her, rose then turned
"You'll know before the day is through."

It's been four weeks. The sock now lies
Across her mirror. Shades of blue
Keep her wondering his name.
"And do I mean a thing to you?"
And far away in Hogwarts school
Headmaster Snape's still trying to know
Who was she who stole his heart
And left behind a sock like snow?

Very funny! Don't write a sequel - let's let them wonder forever. ::ducks things thrown at her from the rest of the commenters::

Ha! Famous morning-after words. This is very cute, kind of like a sock version of Cinderella.

Excellent!
Will the poor little socksies ever be reunited with their mates?

This does indeed cry out for a sequel.
So dear author don't be cruel.
Tell us how the socks of blue and white
came to be with their partner unite.

(Yes I know terrible but it's late!)

Hello Reynardo,

I'm creating the masterlist for the 2013 newbiefest gifts. Does this lovely poem have a title?

Please let me know. Thank you!
