Subject: FPA NOTICE: eBay Registration Suspension - Section 9- reynardo@pnc.com.au

Dear reynardo (reynardo@pnc.com.au),

We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended due to concerns we have for the safety and
integrity of the eBay community.

==================

What the FRITH?!?!?!@?#@#^%&?

I had to read it twice. Then again. Surely, I had sorted out that one little problem a month ago with a late payment.

I read further...

(skipping the main body of why suspensions are sometimes necessary)

Hang on a gol-durned minute!!!

It has an IP address. Not a URL. Or not a valid text-based URL anyway.

Application of a few deep breaths, followed by tracert and whois (tracert and whois are our friends) , determined that the offending email had come from Canada via Sprintlink, and hadn't even touched the Ebay servers.

Not to mention the odd formatting which hinted at one too many cut-and-paste jobs.

So then - to report it to Ebay.

I start trying to work my way through the laryrinthian javascript of Ebay's help pages. On so many pages I find the following:

If you can't find the answer to a trading problem in eBay's online Help or on the Community Help boards, use the online forms shown below and at the bottom of most Help pages to email eBay.

Except there isn't a link to email by at the bottom of most pages. It took me a good 20 minutes to find my way through suspension policies to account fraud and then to their pages about these frauds.

In the meantime, I had emailed both root@ebay.com and help@ebay.com and been bounced.

Finally I managed to send the report to spam@ebay.com, including complete headers.

So - further news as it happens. But I would be thinking twice about clicing any links. Especially those with IP addresses.
