I must be tired, hungry and grumpy.

*sigh*
OK, from the top:
1) the Pit of Voles is having the usual New Year's glitch, where you can't read any reviews you've received yet this year. I would have thought they'd have worked out this YXK bug by now - it happens every year.
2) When one has been banned from a certain sort of foods, even temporarily, isn't it odd how suddenly you crave them?
3) So I get home from running errands to find a huge box on the doorstep. Alas, not Lucius Malfoy trying to avoid Airport Customs officials - it's from a certain Communications Provider that I used to work for (Hello, Optus). It contains a Fetch TV and is addressed to number 44a My Street.
Trouble is - there *is* no 44a My Street There's us at 44, and next door is 46. But for some reason, which comes up time and again, 44a My Street is listed on the various Optus databases as being:
a) In existance
b) Suitable for Cable Internet
This has meant that over the years, we've had unpaid Mobile bills for complete strangers. We've had installation techs who show up, then apologise because they already know us. And now this.
So I tried to ring the company to get this fixed. Did you know that if you *don't* have an account with the company, it's almost impossible to find your way around their menus? I finally ended up on the "new accounts issues" line (which didn't like me because I don't have a New Account Number), only to be told there was a 30 minute wait. Screw that.
Then I tried their Live Chat. Hah. The person at the other end kept insisting that they had 44a as a serviceable address. I know that. I need to talk to the section in charge of your Locations Database so it STOPS being a Serviceable Address. He could not get past the fact that it was there, and couldn't understand that that's the whole problem.
So I've sent a message through the twitter feed, but it's been quiet for ages. Am about to throw this onto the Facebook page for some action. But until there is, I shall just resign myself to another plethora of debt collectors and equipment deliverers...
Anyone want a Set-top box for Internet TV?
