I hope I can repay the favor. I sincerely hope so to.

What is your favorite word?

Respect.

What advice would you like the community/political party you support to heed?

Although it would do them absolutely no good, it would be "So when one of your people actually cares about the electorate and the people they are representing and are willing to stand up for them, don't go replacing them with party hacks who are being noticed for their personality and their family's donations to the party instead of their real work!"

As a GM, how do you go about setting up an adventure for your players?

Sometimes it's the Quick-and-Dirty mapping method (using Paint to make the layout then printed onto 5mm square graph paper for instant scale). At the moment I have the requisite maps, and it's more musing over the weeks beforehand about things they'll meet or have to deal with. It gets tweaked to the current level of the party, hopefully not too difficult but not a cakewalk (which alas a couple have been). Specific monsters are considered, and if I can work in a hook with the local arch-villain, so much the better. But not obsessive pre-planning - I might scribble up a challenge, but I won't write out the whole thing. No point, really - the way this lot play...

Currently the Saturday bunch a) have a Paladin on a quest for a Silver Orb b) know they're to meet a hydra and a clay golem c) have Calair's in-laws to rescue and d) don't have a cleric. I
have the map, which I need to update to their current level (about 3 higher than originally planned), I know some of the critters they're to meet, and I know how it's to end (sort-of. You know how real characters will always change that bit). And I want them to ... oh, sorry - players reading. Enough to say you'll read about it later.

What item of clothing has the most affect on you? Be it on you, [livejournal.com profile] lederhosen, your fave movie, etc.

Er.. Tim? Affects me the most or has the most effect on me.

Silk knickers with suspenders and stockings. You feel like you're not wearing any undies at all, and the suspender/stocking combination thus leaves a certain area feeling very very obvious. One has to be comfortable and proud to wear this - if you're feeling insecure it's hard to enjoy.

How did you discover Tom Lehrer ?

Chris Forbes. I blame him. It was a church camp, and he was the leader of the Senior Fellowship (I was in Junior Fellowship). I was wandering past the hall when I heard the piano - Andrew the pianist (whose name I can't remember) was playing a few, Chris was listening and I sar down to enjoy. Then he and Chris started talking about some writer, and they played and sang for me "The Masochism Tango", "Poisoning Pigeons" and "The Vatican Rag."

I didn't hear those songs again for years, until a friend at Uni played some, and at last I knew the artist and the songs. It was downhill from there. Now I can play them, sing them, and admire them immensely. They played a bit of "Who's next?" on Media Watch the other night. I should write and ask for more.
