Something's in the air.
Nov. 17th, 2003 10:44 pmI've been out of the working world for about 2 years, and haven't actually applied for a job in roughly 7 years (since my office manager position got upgraded and I thought for about 3 seconds before telling them to stuff it up the boss's give it to someone else).
Recently my beloved Dr.
lederhosen and I moved to the city to be closer to his work. We're renting. We need to buy. We've just gotten a good price for our house ($5000 more than we were asking) but it's not enough - city prices being twice to three times what the country price is. So I need to get a job.
I have to be honest here - I've been middling slack - I've browsed the ads and considered what I could do, but only applied for about 5 - one by straight written application and 5 by online click-and-ask.
But one of the online applications for a Helpdesk role has ended up with a phone interview, followed by today's roleplaying-and-technical-and-Q&A session. They rang me tonight and told me I had been "excellent", "outstanding", and I report to Chatswood tomorrow for a 3rd and final interview.
Yay!
One has been a little nervous after this time applying for a job and not quite being sure what sort of application the job market wants. One has not had a job outside the Public (Civil) Service since 1982.
One feels now that perhaps one has what it takes.
One is also very willing to take the shift work, as there are late shift and weekend shift loadings that will help greatly towards this whole mortgage thing.
Maybe we won't have to sell off Ratboy now...
