There are plusses and minuses.
Oct. 16th, 2001 10:47 pmI now do my BIG monthly shop online, and it gets delivered at civilised hours like 9pm just when you're feeling peckish.
This is good because I save on the taxi fare from Katoomba, I make a list and am (supposedly) far more organised, and the prices can be cheaper.
This is bad for fruit and meat because I'm a tactile shopper. I need to smell the melons, see the fat content of the steaks, see the colour of the grapes.
But tonight I received the order where I decided to try out the fruit and vegetables. The avocados and the buck choy are ok, but not great.
The butternut pumpkin is tiny.
It's less than a hand-span high and I can wrap my fingers around the girth of the upper half and the tips overlap. It doesn't even weigh one kilogram. I could eat the enitre thing as a side vegetable.
My local fruit-and-vegie shop is excellent, but I don't get up to the shop some nights until after it closes some nights.
It was worth trying this out. Now I know.
