Hey there lovely people,

I stole this from [livejournal.com profile] sclerotic_rings but the person is differen.t My little baby brother Jim is in Japan, teaching Japanese girls how to giggle in English. He'd love to have pics of Australia, and I've sent him pretty birds and cute kangaroos, but now I want to horrify him.

So if somewhere near you has postcards of dubious taste or really icky pictures, could you please send him one to:

Jim Richards
819-0005 Fukuoka-ken, Fukuoka-shi, Nishi-ku,
Uchihama, 1-6-4-609 Urban Shiki
JAPAN

and write something suitably misleading on the back? By icky I mean those glowing neon colours, or pictures of giant prawns in tight bikinis, or surfing koalas. By misleading, perhaps a cryptic message about the wild night the pair of you had drinking and singing all the way down the main street of Prahan, or how you were watching the tankers unloading and it reminded you of him.

Thanks

Gillian

You sure about this? After all, we Americans are into some really sick shit...not only did we invent Beavis and Butt-Head, but we let them run the country...

Were it my other brother, I'd be worried. But this guy has his head screwed on straight - he organised the t-shirt for my son to wear in the anti-war demonstration last year.

Nah, do your worst. Plywood, postcards of tornadoes, pictures of the last great Moose Convention - I dare you.

Do you know what the postage is for a postcard to japan?

$1. It's apparently GST free. (If you ask at the post office they give you a special stamp).

I'll be up for that! I have a drawer stuffed with postcards that I intend to send to someone, sometime, but never quite get around to it.

He's getting a picture of an elephant riding a motorbike in celebration of Mount Elephant Pancakes in Tasmania, where I ate a big pancake a couple of weeks ago.

i used to have a HUGE collection of odd postcards from the US and other places too--anywhere anyone sent me one from. Maine is great for peculiar postcards of lobsters in bikini's and the like. .. I'll see if I can dig something up. I'll be kicking myself now for not buying a box of old movie poster postcards which had some great B-movie releases on them.

shall i write in broken Japanese on the back too?
