Operation Gate Crash is GO!

It's official, guys. I just had my yearly review and I got the higher level bonus, which is now earmarked for
lederhosen and myself to gatecrash a certain nuptial event being held in Connecticutt in September.
Ahem.
(deep breath)
I've created this Live Journal group to communicate with the people I need to plot and conspire with up to the date. Quite obviously, this is all terribly hush-hush as the couple themselves have no idea.
So - I'll only use this icon when posting important info about the trip and all, so you know when you need to read. But at least we know it's all happening now.
Itinerary to be arranged - there may be changes (in fact there probably will), but the basic idea (depending on
lederhosen's chance of getting leave) is to fly to Maine, hire a car, spend a week driving from Maine through Mass to Conn, hit the place on the Friday lunchtime ready to turn up at the bonfire and freak the hell out of the couple. Wedding Saturday, and some peace and quiet on Sunday.
Then a drive to Parlour City and come visit there, dump the car and fly to LA and home. I've timetabled on a total of two weeks and a couple of days, but if my beloved can get more time off, then we'll hopefully be going to see volcanoes as well.
panacea1, I hope your move goes well - there won't be anything much more significant on this stuff until well after you're in Maine so do not panic.
BTW, if this isn't convenient or I mention stuff that just ain't gonna work, or I miss an important part out, I trust all of you to be blunt and straightforward with me. I also expect to collect massive numbers of hugs on our travels.
So there you have it.
Ahhh - for your information so you know who's involved - members of this group are:
binxcat and
mdsteele47,
deor and
malada,
panacea1 (and her boyscout by relay - he's not an LJer),
skwerlbuddy and by relay to that family group),
brandtotter and
silverblue,
lederhosen and of course myself.
Carry on, everybody - you're all doing very well!

Date: 2005-04-27 01:07 pm (UTC)Following my dissertation overview defense today (*panic*), I'll try to start working out the details of the gate-crashing part... as in how to increment the guest list by +2 in a sneaky manner, and finding lodging options for the two of you.
Do holler if you need any additional help with transportation and the like. At some point, I'll be drawing the MomBunny into confidence about the plan, as the bonfire is at her place and she can be trusted to keep The Secret.

Date: 2005-04-27 08:32 pm (UTC)If flying into Maine, you have basically two airport options: Portland and Bangor. Portland is (I'm told) a half hour closer to Augusta (where I hope to be finding an apartment in, oh, two weeks or so) but Bangor is easier to get in and out of. Both are international airports in that they serve Canada, but since you're coming from the opposite corner of the world that's not going to be much help. I was advised to avoid routing through Boston Logan Airport if at all possible as (according to Moxieman) there's some kind of logistical snafu that requires you to pass through security again when changing planes to Maine. Of course, you may not have much choice about it since nearly all the flights into Maine route through Logan.
When it's closer to the time you should talk to the Mox directly as he has (obviously) got much more experience with Maine's airports than I do.
