Derned body

Firstly, I have a new mobile phone (same old number, though), so I can get back to ringing and messaging people.
And we went to see Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit today - very much worth while. Nick Park and his team are brilliant, and the animation is up to its usual high level. The violence and some of the Best-of-British-style double-entendres put the film at PG level, but I'd still take the kids - and yourself.
My chest for the last few days has felt like I'm wearing a particularly tight corset. The energy levels are way low, and I have had 4 days off out of the past 8, which is not good. Especially since I badly need ot make some time up at work, and get a couple of major jobs done.
Mind you, it's also the body telling me to take a break, which I really ought to do. But hey, since when did I ever listen to it?
It's a minor viral infection of the chest and throat - the very sensible doctor has put me on rest, paracetamol, and hot lemon-and-honey drinks. No antibiotics - so good to hear from a doctor. The infection is making the asthma feel bad, but it's not really - that's just the soreness of the chest tricking me. So walking through the mall was fine, but any stairs or serious exertion is not good. I had a certificate to handle today as well as yesterday, so thought to myself "dammit, I need the break", and I just hope the system didn't fall over too badly.
Yeah, you can all shut up now. I know, I mother every one else, I ought to do it to myself for once.
In addition, I've been having fun playing devil's advocate to
jazzmasterson's Wedding Wiki, finding places with holes and poking at them. Every now and then he yelps, so it's worth it.
I've also been having my butt kicked at Settlers of Catan by
lederhosen, (although I made up for it tonight with 2 wins in a row - go me!). He's a master of strategy, so I'm feeling very smug. He also rarely makes any allowance for marriage, sickness or just straight-out pity, so I know I did it for real. Now if only he doesn't catch on to my strategy...
I owe a lot of people catch-ups and phone-calls and huggles, so once I've got the body back in gear, watch out.
Hmm - probably work tomorrow. Dern it.

Date: 2005-09-11 08:34 am (UTC)My sympathies - hope you recover swiftly and can get back to things soon, dearone. It's nice to hear that you're taking care of yourself, too, even if it is only because your system has forced you to. *pokes you*
And dammit - now I've got a yearning to play Settlers again... *snuggle*
