Greetings, fellow conspirators.
Once we leave
torin3's on the Tuesday, and head to Washington, my idea is that we see the Mall part of the Air and Space Museum then all have dinner somewhere not too far from
silmaril's place.
Then, as we need to be near the Dulles Airport on the Wednesday for our 7.30 pm flight out, we spend the afternoon getting to the The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy part of the museum, fang around there until it closes, find somewhere until dinner then head for Washington-Dulles airport.
Which leaves us with a few questions:
What shall we do in Washington or Baltimore on the Wednesday morning?
I don't know if
silmaril has room for others as well as
lederhosen and myself, so
torin3, will you be driving back home on the Tuesday night then back to Washington on the Wednesday, or shall we do something else?
I have multitudinous munchies and lovely things stacked in the bags right now (I got some mighty odd looks at the supermarket when I bought the case of Tim Tams, but then they laughed when I explained the deal) and many more hugs ready.
silmaril, I can't remember - was it you that made reproduction medieval middle-eastern socks? And are you actually a member of the SCA, and if so have you and
torin3 met before?
Of course, if this doesn't suit people, we can do other things on the Tuesday and Wednesday.
Oh
torin3? Rope bed with futon mattress will be fine.

Date: 2005-09-13 04:56 am (UTC)The LA part (other than 2 hours in the airport on the way through to the East coast) will be from the Wednesday the 28th September to Sunday 2nd October. We're seeing King Tut on Friday 30th (is that right, Buzzy?).
What's good for you?

If I get up there early enough, would you two like salt-crust roast beef, potatos of some variety, and asparagus with hollandaise for dinner? Substitution allowed, and except for the homemade hollandaise, fairly healthy.

Date: 2005-09-13 12:37 pm (UTC)I might suggest Baltimore... it's easier to move around than DC, and there are some interesting things there. National Aquarium (which is indeed in Baltimore, strangely) is great, and if you're looking for something out of the ordinary, the Dime Museum (basically, a museum of circus sideshow-type stuff) and the Museum of Industry are both quite lovely.

Date: 2005-09-14 06:01 pm (UTC)It looks like I might have to schedule my proposal defense for early Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning, so until I know that I can't really guarantee I'll be available for gamboling with you around the city. Also, when are you likely to arrive in the DC area on Tuesday? (Philadelphia is about a four hour drive). We have to meet at some point for me to give you the apartment key at the least, but if I'm defending Tuesday afternoon I can't get out.
Will you be able to call/access e-mail from earlier legs of your trip?
Tuesday night is Three Left Feet practice between 8 and 10 pm---that's where I do my reenactment, so if you would like to attend that (it's very close to where I live) we can have a light meal, do that, and then go out to dinner with the group. Or I can skip practice---although they won't like that, because there's a show coming up that weekend---and we can go out to dinner earlier.

Date: 2005-09-15 01:51 am (UTC)Three Left Feet sounds wonderful, but we'll see how exhausted we are by then. I'll certainly be able to email and call from earlier - and of course from Perkasie as we leave there.
If it's awkward with your defense, we can easily find stuff to do ourselves. The only hard-and-fast requirement is getting to the Washington-Dulles Airport on Wednesday 28th by 5:30-ish for our 7pm flight.
