Greetings, fellow conspirators.

Once we leave [livejournal.com profile] torin3's on the Tuesday, and head to Washington, my idea is that we see the Mall part of the Air and Space Museum then all have dinner somewhere not too far from [livejournal.com profile] silmaril's place.

Then, as we need to be near the Dulles Airport on the Wednesday for our 7.30 pm flight out, we spend the afternoon getting to the The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy part of the museum, fang around there until it closes, find somewhere until dinner then head for Washington-Dulles airport.

Which leaves us with a few questions:

What shall we do in Washington or Baltimore on the Wednesday morning?

I don't know if [livejournal.com profile] silmaril has room for others as well as [livejournal.com profile] lederhosen and myself, so [livejournal.com profile] torin3, will you be driving back home on the Tuesday night then back to Washington on the Wednesday, or shall we do something else?

I have multitudinous munchies and lovely things stacked in the bags right now (I got some mighty odd looks at the supermarket when I bought the case of Tim Tams, but then they laughed when I explained the deal) and many more hugs ready.

[livejournal.com profile] silmaril, I can't remember - was it you that made reproduction medieval middle-eastern socks? And are you actually a member of the SCA, and if so have you and [livejournal.com profile] torin3 met before?

Of course, if this doesn't suit people, we can do other things on the Tuesday and Wednesday.

Oh [livejournal.com profile] torin3? Rope bed with futon mattress will be fine.

We fly out on Friday night (our time), and get to Manchester on Saturday Morning (your time).

The LA part (other than 2 hours in the airport on the way through to the East coast) will be from the Wednesday the 28th September to Sunday 2nd October. We're seeing King Tut on Friday 30th (is that right, Buzzy?).

What's good for you?

Well, since I'm out of vacation time, I'm only going to be able to get 1 day off unpaid. As a result, we were planning on heading back up to PA Tuesday evening.

Mapquest is giving a 4 hour drive time from [livejournal.com profile] deor and [livejournal.com profile] madala's place so I'm going to have to head out real early, or we'll need to find a place to eat there or along the way.

If I get up there early enough, would you two like salt-crust roast beef, potatos of some variety, and asparagus with hollandaise for dinner? Substitution allowed, and except for the homemade hollandaise, fairly healthy.

Gha...sorry, 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive time. If I'm there by 4pm we should be at our place by 7.

The food sounds wonderful, and we'll be ready.

Since I have nothing to do with the Washington/Baltimore part of the plan, I'll butt in.

I might suggest Baltimore... it's easier to move around than DC, and there are some interesting things there. National Aquarium (which is indeed in Baltimore, strangely) is great, and if you're looking for something out of the ordinary, the Dime Museum (basically, a museum of circus sideshow-type stuff) and the Museum of Industry are both quite lovely.

Alamo Car Rental return office at the Hancock Airport, Syracuse. Is it oK with you guys if we make it 6pm there? We have things we need to do in CT until 12:30.

To answer your questions in random order: No, I'm not a member of the SCA, I do my historical reenactment elsewhere. I... don't maek any socks :-). I have a one-bedroom apartment with a two-person futon and (technically) available floorspace in the living room, so [livejournal.com profile] torin3 can possibly stay along if he brings a sleeping bag or similar. I've never met him before.

It looks like I might have to schedule my proposal defense for early Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning, so until I know that I can't really guarantee I'll be available for gamboling with you around the city. Also, when are you likely to arrive in the DC area on Tuesday? (Philadelphia is about a four hour drive). We have to meet at some point for me to give you the apartment key at the least, but if I'm defending Tuesday afternoon I can't get out.

Will you be able to call/access e-mail from earlier legs of your trip?

Tuesday night is Three Left Feet practice between 8 and 10 pm---that's where I do my reenactment, so if you would like to attend that (it's very close to where I live) we can have a light meal, do that, and then go out to dinner with the group. Or I can skip practice---although they won't like that, because there's a show coming up that weekend---and we can go out to dinner earlier.

Hmm - regarding socks - hmm - and I thought you were the fabric/knitting type. Oh well.

Three Left Feet sounds wonderful, but we'll see how exhausted we are by then. I'll certainly be able to email and call from earlier - and of course from Perkasie as we leave there.

If it's awkward with your defense, we can easily find stuff to do ourselves. The only hard-and-fast requirement is getting to the Washington-Dulles Airport on Wednesday 28th by 5:30-ish for our 7pm flight.

Well, we need to wait until Sandy gets off of work and grabs a quick shower. We should be on the road by 7:30-8am. Down in your area by noon unless we hit bad traffic.

We will be heading back Tuesday night. Not sure when, but probably by 6-7pm or so.
