All you have to do is this:
At any time on February 14th, load up the LiveJournal Latest Posts page.
Browse through the page and find at least one person who's feeling lonely and down. You might want to search (Ctrl-F if you're on a PC; Apple-F if you're on a Mac) for the word "Valentine". Pick anyone you like; male or female; whether or not they wield spelling or grammar correctly. You're not going to talk to them after the 14th unless you want to.
Find something remarkable about them. Maybe they have a nice icon; maybe they have a good sense of humour. Scan their interest list; maybe they have your taste in music, literature or film. If you can't find anything positive to say, move onto someone else.
Once you've decided what to write, leave a quick comment on their entry. It's not about solving their problems, counselling them or being their friend—you're just aiming to give them a quick confidence boost when they might be feeling low.
Optionally, reply to the original post to say how many people you've commented.
