Warning - grump coming.
Mar. 22nd, 2002 12:34 pmLederhosen and I are getting married in July.
I wanted to get married in my parents' garden. Once the wedding list was compiled and added to by both sides, the garden wasn't big enough.
So Mum and I considered the Botanical Gardens in Sydney, and thought that the Rose Garden had enough shelter, enough seats for the older members, and its only disadvantage was the distance to exits and to the reception venue (the Pavilion on the Park).
So I've been trying to discuss the possibility of getting a minibus in for one hour to transport the over-80s and the knee-replacements who value their independence (so don't want to be pushed in wheelchairs).
After weeks of discussion and the submission of a genuine public-service-worded request letter, I've finally had a response.
The Rose Garden is closed for pruning from July to September.
{sigh-muffled-SCREEAAAAAAAAM}
Next choice - not nearly so nice but still with shelter - the Lion Gate Lodge. This only means use of the garden and the sheltered area, with seating for 3 people (we can bring in a few extra chairs if necessary) but at least it has a gate right beside it, opening onto the road around Mrs Macquarie's Chair.
But we can't use the gate. It's only available if we hire the entire cottage for the day at a cost of about $1500 including a security guard for the gate.
So the guests would have a substantial walk around from the next nearest gate (the Henry Lawson Gate).

OK.
That's it.
Two tickets to Vegas, please.
(In reality, I shall now consider a location close to the Woolloomooloo gate, close to the reception venue).
