I should have guessed it, I suppose.

That there would be Firefly fanfic? Obvious.

That there would be Firefly slash? Well, dur.

But that the most common pairing would be Jayne/Simon?

As the Firefly quiz I once saw asked:

- Who is your favourite character?
- Who is your favourite character who is not Jayne?

After that it's just a question of where to look for the best angst and contrast :-)

I'm just boggling at you being surprised by this.

I was expecting much more Kaylee/Inara

But where's the tension? They'd just be happy woobies together. Pretty, but not much of a story.

Hey, I'm still recovering from the idea of Wesley/Worf fanfic meself. Compared to that, I don't know why everyone kvetches so much about the horrors of Absolutely Fabulous/Farscape fanfic: Edie/Pilot fanfic's already been done.

Hey, I'm still recovering from the idea of Wesley/Worf fanfic meself.

Is that Wesley Crusher, or Wesley from Buffy?

To quote one of the great philosophers of the Twentieth Century, "AAAAAAAAH! This sucks! Change it, Butt-Head! Change it! AAAAAAAAH!"

Nice to see another devilbunny, though surely from a different context

[identity profile] asheraa.livejournal.com 2006-04-28 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I have heard rumour that there was another devil bunny around. :-)
I got this avatar from [livejournal.com profile] icon_goddess. No idea where she got the idea from... Kinda fits though lol

I'm actually not hugely surprised either. Modern slash pairings seem to be heavily modelled on the seme/uke model of yaoi - roughly speaking, the Dom/sub. I know Simon isn't 100% submissive, but I'll bet in a large number of those fics he is.

[identity profile] silmaril.livejournal.com 2006-04-28 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
But of course. The Slasher Subtext Brigade's Logic dictates that barely concealed disdain on both sides means Luv! Or at least that's what I gathered from all the references to Harry/Draco slash on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes.

(Or, if they are snarky like me, they can see the inherent humor. But I doubt if all writers of that particular little subgenre are.)
