1) Arrange for the investigation into your organisation to be paid for by an affiliated organisation.
2) Re-define the limits for the unacceptable behaviour so that the proportion of the "worst" incidents changes from "most" (73%) to "less than a quarter" (22%).
3) Switch the blame for the acts from the perpetrators to the times in which they live.
4) Sit back and watch as major news organisations report your tweaked figures along with the lines "it wasn't as bad as it looked at first".
Last week, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) released a report called “The Causes and Context of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Catholic Priests in the United States, 1950-2010”, a companion to their 2004 report, “The Nature and Scope of the Problem of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Catholic Priests and Deacons in the United States, 1950-2002“. In this report, they ignored the DSMIV classification of "pedophilia" as being against a child 13 or younger, and chose to define pedophilia as being against children 10 years old or younger, thus changing the percentage of the abuse that was against children from 73% to 22%.
The article about the Catholic Church, pedophilia and playing with the numbers.
It tells a lot about an organisation that wants people to trust in it and have faith in it if they can't tell the truth.

And on a lighter note...
