The girl-geek in me is going "Woot!"
Mar. 28th, 2007 01:17 pm Two Kiwi schoolgirls are worldwide celebrities after their school experiment forced an international pharmaceutical and food giant to admit it made false claims about vitamin C levels in Ribena.
They wondered. They tested. They tested other drinks to make sure their process worked. They re-tested the Ribena. They confirmed their results. They published. They, their work and their results were taken seriously.
I do hope those two proper scientists get given scholarships or something later. No, not for outing a big company, which was pretty cool, but for demonstrating proper scientific method and obviously working at a proper, professional level.
Between them and Emily Rosa's paper on Reiki, there's some pretty good role-models for girls in the science field. Makes my little heart all warm and fuzzy, it does.

As I biked home today, I came up on two rather attractive young female students at a crosswalk, both on foot. As I passed, I overheard just a snippet of their conversation. They were discussing the finer points of Raptor and Viper piloting with respect to Sunday's Battlestar Galactica finale.
It pleases me to see girl-geeking gone mainstream.
