Waste of money, brains and talent.
May. 16th, 2002 12:21 amJust finished watching "Mists of Avalon". It's a US/German/English production, and all the women are fairly-well-known americans and all the guys are relatively unknown but talented (and very scrummy) British actors.
Unfortunately, the script and direction leave a great deal to be desired. Anjelica Huston was good as Viviane, but she could have been so much better. I've seen her in full flight - she was wasted. Samantha Mathis didn't really age at all as Gwenwyfar, and Joan Allen was miles too old to play Morgause.
The costumes weren't too bad, I have to say, and the locations were gorgeous.
But they cut too many really important bits out - methinks they were trying hard not to get hit on by the Church.
Hmmm - one more to take back to Civic and get a refund on.
