It's cold, and there are wolves...
Sep. 30th, 2007 12:42 pmBeen in Canberra the last 3 days, spending lovely time with my dear
lederhosen and cursing this second-cold-in-two-weeks that seems to be following me. Am not looking forward to the drive back tomorrow.
The meme that's going around is here:
What's your favorite piece of jewelry?
My black and white opal necklace, made of stone like the one pictured here.
Do you take painkillers?
Yes, sometimes. Especially at the moment while my tooth-holders are being adjusted and making my mouth ache.
What's your secret weapon to lure in the opposite sex?
Being me, no matter what. And the intellience. If they don't like it, I don't want them.
Do you have A.D.D.?
No idea, and I don't want to know.
What's your name?
Gillian Brent, nee Richards
Middle Name?
Mary
Name 3 thoughts at this exact moment?
1) I'm spending too long on the 'puter
2) coffee and orange poppy seed cake!
3) Damn cold.
Name the last 3 things you have bought?
1. "Sex in Georgian England" by A. D. Harvey at a discount bookshop
2. Breakfast for us at Pancakes before
da_norvegicus heads back to Sydney by bus
3. New shoes at Doc Martin's. The brand is "Pit Bull Footwear", and at $100 per pair for plain black shoes and ankle-boots, they were MINE!
Name 3 drinks you regularly drink:
1. coffee
2. Orange juice with a dash of ginger
3. Water (not enough)
Current worry?
Balancing my rather full life and finding a new job.
Current hate?
People refusing to learn, claiming it's "too hard"
Favorite place to be?
Melbourne with all my loved ones around me
Where would you like to go?
Maine in the Autumn, England in the Spring, Iceland in the Summer, Melbourne in the Winter.
Do you own slippers?
Yes, a very staid and conservative royal blue velvet pair, $5 at K-mart some years ago. Deep hidden in a box are my bunny slippers.
What color shirt are you wearing?
Dark blue silk, originally white and slightly stained (and $5 special because it was stained, so I bought it and dyed it)
What's your favorite color?
Purple
Would you be a pirate?
Probably, if it also involved being the captain's doxy and the captain was
lederhosen
Do you sing in the shower?
Crumbs yes. And while doing the housework and while driving and while walking...
What did you fear was going to get you at night as a child?
Rampant snails.
What's in your pockets right now?
Is that really a riddle question? A handkerchief (large, white), my asthma puffer, my mobile phone, and 10c.
Best bed sheets as a child?
Purple stripes
Does someone have a crush on you?
Yes, yes and yes. And most of them are reciprocated.
Do you wish on shooting stars?
I mean to, but when I see them I tend to be too awed to remember.
What is your favorite book?
For what the Cerebrate calls "Mind Candy", Gilliane from the Roselynde Chronicles. And Jane Eyre. And The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.
What is your favorite candy?
Kendall Mint Cake and Maple-and-Walnut Fudge.
What song do/did you want played at your wedding?
"Perfect Day" by Lou Reed.
What song do you want played at your funeral?
Not entirely sure, but something that says "I had fun, I'd like you to remember me, but I don't want your lives bogged down in sadness just because I'm gone." I'll have to get back to you on that one.
What were you doing @ 12 AM last night?
Which timezone :-)
What was the first thing you thought of when you woke up?
Damn teeth aching again
Have been spending far too much money, of course, but I admit to giving in to selfish reasons when Ratboy said "So can I go back a day early by bus?" I'm glad he's old enough to take the coach by himself and feed himself tonight. And I'm glad for an extra day with my beloved, without Ratboy. I love my son dearly, but sometimes a pair of adults need some adult time.
Even if that currently involves me knitting on the couch while my husband putting together modelling sets at the kitchen table
