Feeling sad for my mother.

It's weird when someone dies and you're not sorry, but you do feel sorry for the people impacted. My grandmother died this morning. It's a relief for me, because my mother won't have the burden of trying to deal with her selfishness, and her demands, and cleaning up the disasters after her (and believe me there were some beauties). I've had as little as possible to do with my grandmother over the last 15 years, and now I don't have to work to avoid her any more. And now my mother will be able to travel like she's wanted to without feeling guilty about it. She got dumped with caring for both grandmothers when all the rest of the family moved away, and it's time she had some fun.

So rather than sending me your sympathies, I'd like you to instead think of someone you haven't seen or spoken to in ages just because you've drifted apart, or haven't got around to it, or every time you go to do it something comes up. Ring that person just to say hi. And then go and do something crazy or outrageous that you've always wanted to do but never had the nerve, like giving a parking patroller a flower, or running into the ocean fully clothed, or driving to some tiny town just because the name sounds curious.
