It's been a long time since I had to deal with this, but...

Someone, I'm not saying who, used up most of our data allowance during a holiday binge on You-tube videos. So we ran out late last night, and there's only today to cope with on 64kbps dial up speed, but it's taught me a few things:

1) When customers were ringing up saying "I can't do anything", they were lying.

2) When customers were ringing up saying "It's so SLOOOOOW", they're right - it's faster than our dial up was in the Mountains, but in comparison with OMG-I-Pressed-The-Button-And-Now-It's-There cable, it's slow.

3) When I've explained to someone in words of 1 syllable not to look at movies and music during Peak time, and they do it anyway, I think I ought to be docking them the $30 for the upgrade in the middle of the month so that it goes through in plenty of time.

Send the culprit over here to muck out the chicken pen. At a rate of $1.50/hr he will have the pen sparkling when he has paid off his debt.

Then there's the rest of the property to poop scoop, baby sitting and all sorts of other things.

Or just dock him the $30.00 and be done with it.

Which ISP are you with?

...do all the other ISPs suck worse?

Because having just checked out, now, their actual data plans, I am so very much thinking unprintable unprintables, and desire to unprintable their unprintable with an unprintable, if you follow me. $100/month for 30 lousy GB?

Different ISPs, different rates. I'm lucky to be on an older plan, $64.95 for 12 GB with 24 offpeak (between midnight and midday), with various deductions for long service (works out actualy as $39 per month). But as Australia only has 3 pipes coming in, data is expensive. No company has a flat-priced unlimited plan because it would cost them too much to do it. That price you saw, though, also includes phone. THis is a relatively new innovation here, although I understand the US has had similar plans for years.

Also, Cable Internet is only available in 3 main cities. Again, we're lucky enough to have it here. ADSL2 is also in a limited number of places.

Way back when I first got da Internets fresh out of college (back when ISP's could still hunt down and can Spammers, back when the net was just converting to graphical interface vs. straight text...yes, back in the "Dark Ages"-chuckle), I had a limit per month on my Internet access account. But it wasn't on bandwidth. It was on the number of hours of dial-up (back when a 28.8 modem was screaming fast) one could use for the basic fee: 30 hours. It was an extra buck an hour beyond that.

But that was ancient times on the net. I'm surprised to see that there are still places where you are limited in the amount of bandwidth you can download.

Hey, I got a great idea! Find yourself an old 486 with a working 28.8 modem. Give it to the one who used-up your bandwith and tell him that it's now his one and only way to access the net. Let's see how quickly he breaks the YouTube habit on that! (smirk)

Your Usual Suspect looks like he might have pocket money from time to time; if he wants extra 'net capacity, maybe he ought to buy some.

Believe me. I know your pain when it comes to having capped internet >.<
Although...*was most likely the cause of his own capping*
But just be glad you weren't on my old plan (Unwired @_@)
2.2kb/s! *dies*
