More than close enough

reynardoEver heard a speaker make buzzing noises when a mobile phone is picking up a signal near it? Now imagine 6 large and powerful speakers all doing that in a cyclic heterodyne. Because when the lightning struck near our house last night, the television (which was on standby) and the stereo (which was also on standby) all started doing that. We hurridly turned them all off, and luckily they all seem fine now.
Alas, not the same for our cable internet modem, our router, and one of our LAN cards. I'd taken the power out but not done the fricking ethernet cables.![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
twiggystick's ethernet is fine, but we've just had our modem replaced and now have to look for a new router.
Which also means limited internet for the next couple of days, so email me if it's desperate. I'll certainly be getting on from time to time. Just not a lot :-(
And yes, I will be buying shielded ethernet cables.
