I laughed out loud at the butcher's today
May. 2nd, 2008 11:13 ambecause the tub that one lot of meat was displayed in had a badly-written label and I thought it said Long Pork. (It actually said "Long Park", a quite different story).
Captain Guts had a long talking to today about the wisdom of NOT taking his bone inside. He wasn't convinced, but dragged it up to the greenhouse instead to chew on. We're looking at a special door that fits into the sliding door and which contains a doggy-door at the bottom, thus allowing him to get in and out at night without us having to drag ourselves from our cold, cold bed to do so.
Spent the last 2 days in Sydney, having the hot water there replaced. It was most amusing to see the old hot water heater behaving like a newly-active volcano, with a cone, fluffy billows of wadding protruding from the hole, and steaming hot fluid runnning out and down the sides. Alas, the electricity and water bills for that week will be horrific, and the nightly cold showers did nothing to improve either my moral fibre or my constitution.
No white on the nearby mountains today, but autumn is definitely making itself comfortable ready for a long cold winter.

Date: 2008-05-02 02:25 am (UTC)We have one of those for the katzen. Make sure to get one with a replaceable flap. We made that mistake with the first one, and when the flap wore out, we were stuck with having to buy a whole new one.
