I has a computer again!
Sep. 14th, 2008 10:22 pmGreat dramas yesterday. Was being whopped by murlocs studious and elitely geeky, when suddenly my screen went blank and my mouse had no light.
I realised that the power cord had fallen out, and thought my machine had powered down, so I plugged it back in.
No response.
I turned the whole thing off and on...
No response. Disk drive whirring, but no sign of the BIOS on the screen, no sign of light on the mouse, no sign of life...
I spent half the night and half the morning panicking, and dreading having to spend ages on the phone with tech support.
And found their number this evening, and called, and the very lovely lady said to me...
"Can you see the little tiny almost invisible black switch on the side marked 'in' and 'out'? It needs to be on 'out'."
I should point out that the switch is feather-light which is why it's so easy to accidentally brush it when you're brushing your hand past and never even notice that the bloody thing is there!!! Not to mention that NOWHERE in the manual is it mentioned???
*sigh*
But at least I have my laptop back.
