And the wind blew the falls upwards.

And the wind blew the falls upwards.

About 50 metres from the falls and still about 20 metres above them, rain started to fall from a clear sky. It wasn't rain. It was the spray.

Alas, the wretched server won't let me put the movie pics up. But the rainbow from the spray was beautiful, and changed as the wind blew.

We had walked for a while down the creek valley (it's called the Charles Darwin walk), and past the smaller upstream falls.
The main Wentworth Falls are about 200 metres high, and have carved their way through the sandstone over the last many millions of years.

In the valley the sun was warm, but in the wind it was bitter, and the temperature dropped as we walked. By the time we got to the lookout, we were shivering. We weren't the only ones seeking the sun.

Other wildlife watched us as we walked.

At the picnic ground we ate of rye bread and savoury fillings, then wandered along the short-cut path to the Conservation Hut, where coffee and scones ended a lovely (but chilly) walk.

Yay!

Sounds like a luscious way to spend a glorious day, my dear. And I hadn't realised that your neighbourhood was quite so beautiful... *quiet awe & envy* Ah, it'll be nice to be able to walk again, so I can get out of the city.

We must get up there to visit at some point, when it suits you all.

Revel in your surroundings and enjoy life,
Shakira.
