Thank you to all those who sent Christmas greetings. A joyous season of peace and goodwill to all reading this.

Christmas day was flat out - The dinner table at my Mum's place was packed, and there was more food inside. 15 people crowded around. I had asked a friend who otherwise would have been by himself on the day - he took one look at the food then said "ah, so that's where you get it from!" (He's been subjected to my guilt meals more than once). Bad jokes were made, tacky Batman plots were deciphered, and the geeks went off and talked 4-chan for an hour (my friend Rohan, my brother Jim, and my two sons) so they were all happy. Apart from it taking a whole hour from Chatswood to Wahroonga (usually a 15 minute drive), and me forgetting to take the Settlers to Mum's (she's coming here tonight to play it), all went well. Dammit, I forgot to take a picture of the Christmas Cake!

Finally managed to get on the net now. For some reason, I'm not picking up the household wireless connection. It's live, and my machine is seeing all the neighbours - it's just not showing on my machine. Weird.

Seeing Quantum of Solace today, mum over for Settlers tonight, then lunch for Tony's birthday then back to Canberra tomorrow.

In other news, I have Vitamin D deficiency. I didn't think it was possible to get that in Australia, but that's what you get for covering up and staying out of the sun. Also have high cholesterol. Two lots of tablets to take - ick.

Merry Christmas. I hope mine was one of the greetings that made it through. I used the mobile number from last year's greeting.

On the plus side, I've found out my mobile actually has unlimited SMS.

I love sunshine, too much and you get skin cancer, not enough and you get vitamin D deficiency. Or maybe you try to balance in the middle and get both. o_O

Glad Christmas turned out fun for you, I'm busy opening Buzzy's presents to Feloni with increasing dread.

Hee! On the contrary, Vitamin D deficiencies are quite common down here - This Cancer Council Position statement notes: "Mild vitamin D deficiency (25–50 nmol/L) was noted in 43% of females and moderate or severe vitamin D deficiency (<25 nmol/L) in 11% of females during winter in the Victorian population of Geelong (latitude 38ºS)."

So it's common enough that the Cancer Council actually modified their position and mentioned that people in southern Australia might need just a little more sun, though they should still be very careful about it, Slip Slop Slap and all that.

Glad your christmas was fun! and yes it is possible to get vit D def here. All those old ladies with hunched backs you see about, that goes hand in hand with calcium loss etc and is much more endemic than known.. Lucky you caught it now. hugs. xxxxx
