I made this icon for a community I haven't really got going yet. But I just read a webpage for which this icon is perfect.

And my head is going to explode.

Once upon a time there were kangaroos in the Middle East.

No, really.

According to this website, the supercontinent Pangaea existed in 2100BC, when the floodwaters from the Biblical Flood receeded and the kangaroos (and the Australian Aborigines) fled across the continent to the end that became Australia.

Prior to and just after the Flood, the Earth's continents were joined in a super-continent today called Pangaea (Greek for "all Earth"). Evidence for this comes from the jig-saw shape of the continental plates as well as Biblical evidence. The Bible tells us that when God created the Earth it was without form (Gen 1:2), meaning that the land wasn't yet broken into distinct continents and was one amorphous mass. Also, God tells us that He gathered the waters under Heaven unto one place (Gen 1:9), meaning the single Ocean surrounding the super-continent. Animals leaving the Ark immediately after the Flood would have had easy access to migrate to all the lands of the Earth. (There is also an alternative theory that some kangaroos and other baramins destined for Australia "rafted" across the Tethys Sea on floating mats of vegetation ripped up by the Flood. However, this is still controversial.) Pangaea gradually started to break apart after the Flood, most likely due to the effects of rapid soaking and drying of the land.*

um...

'scuse me while my brain goes *pop*

Funny fellow. Oh dear.

Oh. Beautiful.

This guy warns of the dangers of the counterfeiting of King James bibles - with updated spelling of certain words. This should not be done because "God gave us the exact words in the exact order He wanted us to have them in. If that's the case then He spelled the words exactly the way He wanted to spell them, and gave them to us in a pure language, and that language is the standard text of the King James Bible."

Yup. God spoke English.

The scary thing is that there is apparently an entire subset of Christianity who believe that KJV is the One True Bible, despite the fact that it's apparently considered one of the worst translations out there.

These people have a different set of axioms from the rest of us, so their proofs look very weird. To them, it's perfectly consistent and logical. But still, yeesh....

"...most likely due to the effects of rapid soaking and drying of the land..."

I can't stop laughing.

But don'tcha know? Soil with lots of clay on it does get those cracks on the top cover if it gets wet and then dries in the sun...

Just to let you know, this is a parody site, written well enough that most people presume that it's legit. This was the same crew that talked about the expedition to Borneo to capture a live pterodactyl to "prove those Darwinists wrong" a few years back.

Damn it!

You know, they have done a very good job. There are so many sites damned close to this one out there that I was cought, hook line and bloody sinker.

(But then I cherish an old geology book I have that follows the old rule of "as the earth cooled the sea floors and continents often develped cracks, which is where earthquakes and volcanoes happen...")

He also fails on basic bible knowledge to the point that I wonder if he's ever read it.
How many of each animal on the arc? Not 2!

Depends which version of the Flood story in Genesis you are reading. In the first version it is two of each - the later version priveleges 'clean' animals to the extent of giving them seven tickets per species...

I like the part where kangaroos are satyrs.

Also, I really like the part where you can't have evolution, but continental drift (over a period of less than 40,000 years) isn't a problem.

My favourite bit...

"The more goat-like attributes, such as cloven feet, were no doubt due to confusion in the wine-addled minds of Dionysian cultists between kangaroos and the demons that the cultists consorted with, which manifested in goatish forms."
