Boring updates and stuff
Mar. 4th, 2009 04:54 pmLease signed and moving in on Friday. Electricity set for then, gas possibly Monday, but this isn't a huge problem as I won't be properly in until Sunday night, and I can cope for a day or two. Internets in on Tuesday, so I may be a little quiet Monday. Or maybe not. Truck arranged for Saturday for stuff moving from
lirion,
lokicarbis and a couple of loose bits. Minion being organised too (son of aunt of
lederhosen.
My dear son
da_norvegicus has a coat from Antons, and is now buying a pair of trousers from there too. He's all grown up *sniff*
My glasses prescription has moved from +1.00 to +1.50 which would explain some headaches. But why is the optometrist telling me that my 8 year old frames (with the previous prescription of +0.50) will be too brittle after this time to be made into the new +1.50? Or is it just that selling me new frames is how he makes his profit?

Date: 2009-03-04 11:22 am (UTC)Simple. Frames aren't as well made as they use to be. My metal ones are only 4 years old, but I've broken them twice already simply by putting them on--the right arm keeps snapping off. I don't tug on them or bend them. Simply put them on/take them off by grasping them by the nose piece. What gives?
I bet if the "Made in X" label was still legible, it would indicate they were made in China. 'nuf said.

Yes, Mox, I know I need to get a new pair of glasses.

Date: 2009-03-04 11:53 pm (UTC)The pair before that needed a new arm (IIRC that was the pair that Dad sat on), and the one needed was obsolete and no longer available.
