Sometimes the things you find.
Sep. 26th, 2009 10:41 pmIt's bitterly cold and raining, and we wanted to avoid town because of the football, so
silverblue and
chaos_crafter showed us a cafe in Belgrave that they like.
And as we were leaving, I noticed a second-hand book table. Most of the books were moden paperbacks, but there was one rather old hardback with an unreadable spine label, so I picked it up and opened it.
And there on the flyleaf was the signature of a previous owner.
Ronald Searle.
Now at this point, half of you are going "who?" and the other half are doing what I was doing:
And it's MINE.
The book, by the way, is the first British edition of "The Web and the Rock" by Thomas Wolfe. Not bad for $3!
