But I'm looking particularly at [livejournal.com profile] waitingman and [livejournal.com profile] mr_figgy.

Everything you needed to know to understand Prog Rock in 5 minutes which would be a third the length of their standard song.

Instrumentals are a common feature of progressive rock. In some cases, the instrumental is a showcasing of pure, raw talent. In other cases, the artists have just thrown up their hands and said, "fuck it. We're going to yodel for a few minutes."

Yes, hard to decide whether to nod or laugh. I really didn't need to see ELP's best impression of Labyrinth Crotch, though.

This is relevant to my interests. And hilarious.

It would appear that the writer is no fan of Nickelback either... this is a good thing & makes me love this piece even more.

So ~ New band project: Guitar, Cello, Musical Saw, Electric Kazoo (yes, I have one...), Irish Wolfhound on vocals & at least one Minimoog monophonic synth... this is Prog, after all!!

I mentioned prog rock to the musically illiterate other half the other day. Much confusion ensued, as he thought I said 'frog rock'. Sorting that one out included a brief rendition of 'We all stand together'.

As yet I have not convinced him to read the article, although I'm hoping he may be lured by the sound of yodelling.
