What is it with these people...
Nov. 15th, 2002 08:28 pmOn the one hand, I posted a note to the Munchkin game mailing list saying how my son enjoyed being corrupted by the game, and received a lovely reply from its creator, Steve Jackson, saying it made his day and he was going to pass my note on to his staff.
In the same set of mail was a reply from someone who took my remarks literally and thought I considered the game seriously corrupting. At least, that's how it comes across - this guy considers my mail to be a criticism of the game and the entire D&D system.
I refuse to answer him or even comment on his letter. I personally think that pointing out to someone that they have missed the irony in a humourous post tends only to get rude replies back from them. My beloved
lederhosen would like me to reply, but for once I'm not going to follow his advice. Besides, it'd then degenerate into a "who's going to get the last post" fight, which I can't be bothered with.
I'd much rather read my next email, which was from the knitting list I frequent. One breathless poster who had just returned from seeing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was dying to inform us all that knitting had appeared in the movie, although she didn't detail where.
I find this information far more important than a clueless flame.
So why am I still disturbed by the twit?
