First 15 songs on my music shuffle
Apr. 10th, 2011 03:44 pmBelow are lyrics from the first 15 songs to show up.
I warn you now - my choices are rather eclectic, and this does not in the slightest cover the range I listen to. But see if you can work out the song from the lyrics. I've gone with the first few lines unless they particularly mention the song's title. And I skipped the Gibbons as it was only a musical piece.
I'll accept just the title and *one* person who's sung it, as some of these may well have had several covers. I'll also hide the comments for a few days. Please try and do it straight, not using Google until after you've had your guess.
1) When everybody's sound asleep,
I'm somewhere making my midnight creep.
Yes in the morning, the rooster crow.
Something tell me, I got to go.
2) Sweet blossom come on, under the willow, we can have high times if you'll abide
We can discover the wonders of nature, rolling in the rushes down by the riverside.
3) Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady you know who I am
You know I can't let you slide through my hands.
"Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones, covered by Jewel, Garbage and many other bands. Picked by
waitingman
4) Run away from all your boredom
Run away from all your whoredom and wave
Your worries, and cares, goodbye
5) You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
"Light My Fire" by the Doors, covered by Jose Feliciano, Shirley Bassey, the Beastie Boys and many others. First picked by
frou_frou, also correctly guessed by
raven_,
naturalredhead,
waitingman,
mr_figgy,
temporal_witch and
jesusandrew.
6) Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high
"Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas, one not played much in Australia. Correctly guessed by
mr_figgy and
temporal_witch
7) I'm shouting all about love
While they treated you like a dog
When you were the one who had made it
So clear
8) You've got a great car,
Yeah, what's wrong with it today?
I used to have one too,
Maybe I'll come and have a look.
9) Way up in my tree I'm sitting by my fire
Wond'rin' where in this world might you be
And knowin' all the time you're still roamin' in the country side
Do you still think about me?
10) Lay dagger dead inside a lonely bed
Trying to hide the hole inside my head
Watching the stars slide down to reach the end
The sleep is not my friend
11) Look at these people.
Amazing how sheep will show
Up for the slaughter
"Slipping" from Dr Horrible's Sing-along Blog, part guessed by
fenrischained
12) Last night I said these words to my girl,
I know you never even try, girl.
Come on (come on), Come on (come on)
"Please Please Me" by the Beatles. Picked by
waitingman
13) Cold late night so long ago
When I was not so strong you know
A pretty man came to me
Never seen eyes so blue
"Magic Man" by Heart, covered by Tori Amos and sampled by Ice-T. Picked by
waitingman
14) I don't know if it was real or in a dream
Lately waking up I'm not sure where I've been
There was a table set for six and five were there
I stood outside and kept my eyes upon that empty chair
15) Our love is like water
pinned down and abused for being strange
Our love is no other,
than me alone for me all day
"All Over You" by Live Picked by
