reynardo: (screaming fangirl)

I am highly amused.

I posted my SSHG Fic on the Pit of Voles, and of course like the rabid little fangirl I am, I watched the stats explode. (They always do for a Severus Snape/Hermione Granger story).

Amusingly, the stats on the individual chapters start with lots of people trying the first, about half of those making it through most of the rest ... and then suddenly a huge jump back up for the last chapter.

So are a whole bunch of people deliberately skipping the story and checking the last chapter to make sure it's a happy ending?

Or are they all just looking for the smut?

Considering how many have then gone to the second-last chapter where the hot action is, I'd say the latter.

I did that with a recent book and was left what turned out to be a completely incorrect impression that most of the characters would die before the end.

I guess they are. (rolls eyes) No wonder I've seen authors apologizing for "lack of lemons".

Me, I sometimes take a peek at the second-last chapter rather than the last, to see if it has a happy ending, since the last chapter is often an epilogue, and I don't want to spoil myself too much.

stats can be misleading. some hits are re-hits. The break in reviews or hits is 1- continous reading and/or lazy reviewers. =)

Havent uploaded anything lateley. My stuff is on my home PC so it's next week for me.

The pit shows the difference between hits and individual readers, though. I can understand the slow down - it's a long story and some people might either abandon it or decide to read the rest later.
