Not what the news people are saying...
Feb. 12th, 2003 06:08 pmA very dear friend has posted this about the Osama tape. In essence, the true translation of the tape completely refutes a link between Osama and Saddam.
Why Osama doesn't support Saddam
So - how may news channels are getting that wrong?

When you're right....
Date: 2003-02-12 09:40 am (UTC)Oh, sure, they had to trim it a little bit to get it to fit, and maybe whack it with a hammer to get it in, but now it's there. The puzzle is complete, and the picture doesn't quite match up, but still. Off we march to war. Against terrorists, or as terrorists, it's hard to say. Maybe we're just cleaning up a bit of unfinished business for daddy, or pride (and the inability to admit we're wrong) forces us down this road. Who knows, who cares? We're going to war, glorious WAR!
May the gods help us all...
Where there's a whip [crack], there is a way. Where there's a whip [crack], there is a way...
We don't wanna go to war, today. But the lord of the lash says, "Nay, nay, nay!"
We're gonna march all day, all day, all day...
Where there's a whip [crack], there is a way...

Seriously, the more I hear about things, the more dubious about Dubya I get.
All the news channels here only mentioned that "Osama was urging the Iraqi people to destroy the USA". One newspaper (the Sydney Morning Herald, thank goodness) pointed out that the message included "Saddam is an infidel". Somehow I doubt the TV channels will pick this up.

It's not the proof of a connection it's been claimed to be, but it's a long way from a disproof also, I would say.
