The danger of Fan Fic
May. 18th, 2012 01:37 pm... is when you're impressed with a minor character in the novel you read (and his representation in the film you see) so you write him up as he is several years later.
And you populate it with another minor character from the same world.
And then you read the second in the series, and find that your second minor character is actually the protagonist for half the second novel, and dies rather messily at the end.
Bugger.
Bugger.
*Delete* *Delete* *Delete* *Delete* *Delete* *Delete*
So now I'd better read the third in the series and make sure that my main subject doesn't end up badly there as well.
(Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and its sequels, for those who are interested. And hopefully I've not spoiled anything for you.)

Date: 2012-05-18 05:50 am (UTC)Pffffft. As if that matters. Isn't that what fan fiction is all about? Bringing people back from the dead, or not killing them off in the first place, and creating a MUCH better fate for them?? Good lord, if we paid attention to silly things like authors killing off their characters the entire Good Ship SSHG would vanish in a puff of, er, canon smoke.
You get right back in there and write another one where he lives happily ever after and has sex with somebody up against a wall or something ;)
And by the way, where is this Aberforth/Albus/Andrew Ketterley/Tumnus story? I'm laughing just typing that LOL!
