First, and most importantly, a wonderful huge and amazing thank you to
rivertempest, whose kind gift of an Amazon voucher arrived just as I discovered that a 1930s Australian Female SF writer,
Flora Eldershaw was actually a cousin of mine.
(*clickety clickety* ... *click* ... *click*). And of course if one is ordering from Amazon, one must make sure one fills the box properly to take full advantage of the shipping deals.
Thanks also to
red_day_dawning,
feodora and
delphipsmith for their lovely LJ presents, and
morethansirius and
christev and
kerravonsen and
beowabbit for their wonderful wishes.
Spent the weekend at my parents' place, speaking at Wafflers about the life of
dogorcuton and retelling
many varied stories.
And after discovering that the amazing
ozratbag2 lives up the road from my parents' place, I have now met her and the wonderful
feathersindigo and
paisleysnail at a lunch where it turned out there were more than a few really weird coincidences. (By the way,
ozratbag2, my mum says my aunt in Warialda does know your family).
Then dinner at Mum and Dad's, with
lederhosen and
da_norvegicus and all the brothers and their respective partners and a couple of good friends a cake with SPRINKLES and oh god I could barely move afterwards. And then... epic Settlers of Catan (Cities and Knights version) with 5 people and the requisite amount of backstabbing and sneaking past to steal ports. Ohhhh. And on the other table, a series of epic Carcasonne games as well.
So. Tired. Now.
ETA: And I completely forgot that
17catherines cheated shockingly (even if a precedent had been set) and made CAKE for last night's dinner as well. MORE CAKE!
And yay I get my anti-snoring mouthpiece back on Thursday, thank bloody goodness. Between the heartburn waking me three times a night and the snoring waking me five times, it's been really uncomfortable. Not to mention miserable. According to the Doc on Friday, I still had a temperature from the flu/cold, which sucks because I've now had it 3 WEEKS DAMMIT and have had to postpone my prac teaching until next semester.
Enough. I shall get a somewhat early night, allow Basil to walk all over me, and hopefully get some more of the
List of DOOOOOOM done in the next few days.

Date: 2012-06-19 01:11 pm (UTC)There's nothing more exciting that finding that a relative wrote a book you can purchase on Amazon. Well, maybe there ARE more exciting things, but that's a close second. hehehe
Many blessings to you love! *squish*

ETA: Oh. Actually ... there are many books by relatives of mine on Amazon, but most of them we've either got multiple copies already, or we really wouldn't want one anyway!

Date: 2012-06-20 02:35 am (UTC)I think the six degrees of separation just got a lot narrower. ;p
I didn't know it was your birthday on Saturday. I should have done more than eye off the cakes and slices in the cabinet me thinks. It was a lovely lunch - pity the weather didn't co-operate, but there is always next time. :D *hugs*
