The terribly amazingly talented

akatnamedeaster ~~foolishly~~ generously offered to draw things suggested by the rest of us screaming fantypes, and I asked for a grumpy Severus having to give in to his (quite) young daughter about something.

So here's the leadup to it.

You need to imagine Severus, settled down to finally read the book he's been looking forward to for a long while, and as he gets engrossed in the best part, his daughter comes into the room with something behind her back.

"Daddy?"

"Hmmm?"

"Daddy, you know how I'm going to need a familiar when I go to Hogwarts..."

"Hmmm.... " (page turns)

"And you know how Uncle Harry has one of Crookshanks' kittens, and you know how that kitten is really a grown up cat and has just had kittens, and ..."

The book is lowered.

The eyes peer over at the young lass, who is *really* having trouble with controlling what's behind her back.

He stands. She walks over, not the slightest fear in her face.

He looks down at her, and she holds up ...

For a good two minutes, he looks down at her and the kitten, and she looks up at him. Finally, the kitten makes a *mew* and wriggles - it's not the most comfortable way to be held.

"Very well then. But it's your cat. You need to feed it and clean up after it, and look after it properly."

"THANK YOU DADDY!"

"MEW"

Arms are thrown around the trying-to-remain-stern Daddy, and the cat is squeezed unmercifully in the process.

An hour later, the scene is much like the initial one. Severus is sitting on the couch. Beside him is a small kitten, curled up against him and receiving absent-minded stroking as Severus finally gets to read the book.
