Research has discovered that:

a) Using a Herman the German Friendship Cake mix as the base for pancakes works sort-of, but is a bit sweet for my liking.

b) Using moscato for the base for simmering strawberries is a good thing.

ZOMG! Back in the early 1980s I was given a Herman starter from a friend! It lasted about two years and died when I used whole wheat flour to feed it.

His remains made a great pizza crust.

Ha! I love the Herman the German thing, that's adorable. I know about sourdough starter but have never heard it called this :)
