(Good times, bad times)
On the good side, while I miss
lederhosen while he's off for a couple of days, I'm going to indulge myself in onions. You have been warned.
Meanwhile, my
sshg_giftfest piece has just been attacked by a large and very insistent muse who demands that I change the ending. Beast. And it was all going so very well...
And the bad? Well, growing up in Britain in the 1970s, I got to watch a lot of the old comedies, and Dad's Army was pretty high up there. They've made a movie of it. And the rest shall be under the cut.
Looks rather good, and very much in the style of the original show. But what's bad about it?
My dad's getting worse. His mind is on its way south, and we're pretty sure that within 2 years, he'll have to be in a secure facility being looked after properly. And while he would have loved this movie about 3 years ago, he wouldn't be able to cope with it now. And that breaks my heart. I know it's all part of growing old, but gorramit NOOOO!

Date: 2015-10-29 03:00 am (UTC)We lost Dad to Alzheimers several years ago. Fortunately, we were able to get a very capable place to take care of him when he got to be too much for Mom. But I know the decision and the process of relocating a parent has the potential to be traumatic, even when you know it's the right thing to do.
