Apart from the big news (I finally finished the first edit of the novel), I've done some short HP pieces.

Here's the Writing List.

There's a couple of Fic Fests on LJ.

One is emulating the Decameron by having a set of 10 subjects and the members are encouraged to write their pieces in response to those prompts.

Generosity.

A story about inexplicable healing after all hope seemed to be lost

Misadventures that suddenly end happily

The other is the [profile] sshg_giftfest where people are offering short works. I offered drabbles or poems based on the submitter giving 3-6 characters, an object with the same first letter as their real name and an emotion with the same first letter as their user name.

So far I have written:

The Bottle for [personal profile] theimpossiblegl

Wordfinding for [profile] rivertempest

And I'm hoping to do a few more.

So there. I've been busy.

In other news, 7 of my 12 students are now having online lessons with me, and I've also been contracted to run D&D games. Seriously. I'm being paid to do something amazingly fun.

We can get through this.

I've been really wanting to run an RPG for my wife and Dave. I have no problem coming up with scenarios, but a campaign has been eluding me. For some reason my brain just flashed on a Fortune's Fool idea that I had where non-humans are sent on a quest to retrieve the Spear of Longinus, maybe I can come up with something for that.

Fortune's Fool is an interesting system. Diceless, it uses a Tarot deck as the randomizer. A designed character system with the Tarot doing some work and the GM never touches the deck during play. I could have Russet and Dave create two characters to run and I could throw in two NPCs with the party to make it a party of six. The system setting is medieval Europe with magic and with classic fantasy races thrown in. Different races have geographical origins, IIRC goblins are predominately Turkish, elves are Roman, in fact elves are cursed: they're immortal, but elves are responsible for the death of Christ and have been sterile since that event and no new elf children have been born since then.

Sadly, the publisher went bust and the rules seem to be in limbo. I hope the author maintained the rights and that it might find another home, it was quite innovative.
