Procrastination rules!
Aug. 15th, 2001 12:53 pmI shouldn't be here. I should be at Avoca, doing the final clean-up of the beach house. It's the 2 hour drive each way I'm avoiding, so I had better go soon. But I want lunch and after doing the same trip yesterday, my back hurts and I'm exhausted so I'm in whinge mode.
In some ways, I really prefer taking the train. You can relax, you can read or do needlework or catch up on writing or do homework or just sleep. You can brush your hair properly and there's room for your arms (essential with bum-length hair to brush). And you can snuggle your partner and get snuggled back.
When we went to Roxy Music the other night, we took the train. It seemed silly to drive, as the Entertainment Centre is so close to Central. And I wasn't too exhausted to do the Avoca drive the next day.
If only I could persuade the rail people to run the trains more often, and the government to complete the rail loop they're wanting to put off. I would get more exercise walking to and from the station, the air would be cleaner, and the stress levels much lower.
I like cars. One day we'll own a car. But I'll still use the train whenever I can.
