I had such plans for tentacles.
Feb. 13th, 2011 01:13 amI thought I'd make a nice tentacle (octopus) cake for Geoffrey. And I thought I'd make it a marble cake - chocolate and white swirls.
First, the chocolate I added (warmed and melted into the milk) made that section of the cake quite dry and crumbly.
Then the wretched bits crumbled when I tried to cut them into nice tentacle shapes. One completely disintegrated.
Then the icing refused to go on smoothly, picking up every bit of crumb within the area...
Oh well. I patched it as well as I could with blue spots - it *was* supposed to be a blue-ringed octopus, but the cutter I used would make nice rings. So my beloved husband ended up with a blue-tinged spotted wobbly-iced heptapus.
It still tasted all right :-)
